Sasha Bakhru has worked towards engineering a microcapsule-based platform for investigating the influence of various biochemical and topographical cues on expansion and differentiation. In particular, Sasha Bakhru has employed a methylated collagen, prepared by esterification of a small fraction of the carboxylic acid groups of glutamic and aspartic acid residues on native porcine collagen (polycationic) to generate microcapsules by complex coascrevation at the interface of droplets of methylated collagen solutions containing stem cell suspensions and receiving baths of terpolymer solutions.
